movie talking dog Weinstein Company Avoids Bankruptcy - Signs Deal for Their Assets

Numerous reports are coming in that Melissa Contreras-Sweet and Ron Burkle have been successful in their attempts to purchase The Weinstein Company. The TWC board has yet to officially accept the bid, but Contreras-Sweet did issue a statement after all the parties involved sat down with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to work out the particulars. She stated, “Our team is pleased to announce that we have taken an important step and have reached an agreement to purchase assets from The Weinstein Company in order to launch a new company…a movie studio led by a board of directors made up of a majority of independent women, save about 150 jobs, protect the small businesses who are owed money and create a victims’ compensation fund that would supplement existing insurance coverage for those who have been harmed.” This will most likely close a terrible chapter in the history of The Weinstein Company as Harvey Weinstein’s alleged acts of sexual assault led to the company’s name being tarnished and necessitated the sale.
